About This Sermon:

Series: Angels: God’s Mysterious Servants
Theme: What are angels?
Text: Colossians 1:10-23

WHY STUDY ANGELS?
They appear often in the Bible
The culture has mistaken beliefs about angels
Important to understand them so we can spot false teachings
By studying them, we learn more about our God

WHAT ARE ANGELS?
They are created beings: Col.1:16, Ps. 148:2,5
They are finite in number: Luke 20
They are innumerable: Matt 26:53; Heb 12:22; Ps 68:17, Dan 7; Rev 5
They are heavenly beings
They are spirit-beings: Heb 1:14; Num 22:31
They have limitations
Dan 10: one place at a time
Their power is mighty, but limited
Matt 24: their knowledge is limited
They are fascinated by our salvation: 1 Peter 1b.

Holy, Holy, Holy is what the angels sing.
And I expect to help them make the courts of heaven ring.
But when I sing redemption’s story, they will fold their wings,
For angels never felt the joy that our salvation brings.
(Hymn: Holy, Is what the angels sing)
